Brad took this photograph of a White-spotted Woodpecker (Veniliornis spilogaster) while we were birding the escarpment at Colinhas do São Francisco during the morning of October 8, 2011. The back of this woodpecker is a dark olive-green and yellowish color with whitish barring and spotting. It has a brown cap, a long white supercilium and malar stripe. Temperatures were in the 70's on this humid, partly cloudy morning.
