After leaving Aparados da Serra National Park during the late afternoon on October 9, 2011, we birded a stretch of forest about 8-9 kilometers north of Cambará do Sul (a municipality in the state Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil). This is a photograph of a Yellow-billed Pintail (Anas georgica) swimming in one of the ponds near the roadway. This pintail has a yellowish bill tipped with light blue followed by a small dab of black at the very end. There is also some black coloration on the upper mandible. Temperatures were in 80's on this partly cloudy, humid day.
