We spent the early part of the morning of October 20, 2011, birding around our hotel, the Hotel do Ype, in Itatiaia National Park. Later that morning, we birded around the Hotel Simon and along the Tres Picos Trail where Brad photographed Bertoni's Antbird (Drymophila rubricollis). Bertoni's Antbird is similar to the Ferruginous Antbird that we saw in Pereque. However, their voices are different. Overall, Bertoni's is a paler version of the Ferruginous. Its slightly longer tail is browner. Temperatures were in the 70's on this partly cloudy day. Itatiaia National Park is situated on the shoulders of the Serra Mantiqueria, a range of mountains that straddles the states of São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.
