We birded the wetlands loop at REGUA (Reserva Ecológica de Guapiaçu) during the early morning of October 23, 2011. The Black-capped Donacobius, Donacobius atricapilla, has a yellow iris, buff-colored underparts and a black and white tail. Upperparts are brown, and the head is black. The orangish-colored skin on the sides of the throat (see photo) inflate when the bird sings. Temperatures were in the low 70's on this partly cloudy morning.
