We photographed this Black-legged Dacnis (Dacnis nigripes), a Brazilian endemic, while walking along the road below Pousada Pica Pau at Intervales State Park on October 13, 2011. The female has blue upperparts with a gray hind crown, mantle and wings. Underparts are a light gray. The legs and feet are a dusky color. The female's bill and mask are gray. Temperatures on this cloudy morning with intermittent rain were in the 60's. Intervales State Park is located on a 3,300 foot high escarpment in the State of São Paulo in the Paranapiacaba mountain range/upper Ribeira Valley, southwest of the city of São Paulo and north of Curitiba.
