Brad photographed this female Brazilian Ruby (Clytolaema rubricauda), a Brazilian endemic, perched on the back balcony of the Hotel do Ype's restaurant during the afternoon of October 20, 2011. Underparts and outer rectrices are cinnamon-colored. Upperparts are an iridescent emerald green color. The white post-ocular spot is evident in this female. Temperatures were in the 70's on this partly cloudy day. Itatiaia National Park is situated on the shoulders of the Serra Mantiqueria, a range of mountains that straddles the states of São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.
