We spent the morning of October 18, 2011, birding the lowlands near Pereque in Brazil's Mambucaba Valley. After birding, we drove to our hotel, the Hotel do Bosque, to pack up, go to lunch in Pereque, and then drive to Itatiaia National Park. I photographed Joanne after lunch sitting outside the Delicias do Norte, a Kilo restaurant. Temperatures were in the 80's on this partly cloudy afternoon.
