We were on the porch of our chalet at the Hotel do Ype in Itatiaia National Park when we photographed this Brown (Black) Capuchin Monkey (Cebus apella) on the roof of the hotel's restaurant. The owners of the hotel have a problem with the Capuchins climbing onto the roof and hauling up the feeders by their chains and eating the fruit. In the process, the monkeys manage to destroy the feeders...but enjoy the free meal. Temperatures were in the 60's on this partly cloudy afternoon. Itatiaia National Park is situated on the shoulders of the Serra Mantiqueria, a range of mountains that straddles the states of São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.
