We birded the wetlands loop at REGUA (Reserva Ecológica de Guapiaçu) during the early morning of October 23, 2011. This photo shows a Capybara, Hydrochoerus hydrochaeris, which is the largest extant rodent in the world. Its closest relatives are guinea pigs, agouti, and chinchillas. Temperatures were in the low 70's on this partly cloudy morning.
