Brad photographed this Ferruginous Antbird, Drymophila ferruginea, moving up a branch while we were birding the lowlands near Pereque on October 18, 2011. A Brazilian endemic, this species is confined to the Atlantic Forest area of southeastern Brazil. The sides of the head and crown are black. A black smear through the eye is highlighted above and below by a white line that extends onto the nape. Underparts are a rufous-brown color. Spotted wingbars are present. Temperatures were in the upper 70's on this partly cloudy morning.
