Brad photographed this bromeliad during the late afternoon of October 13, 2011. We were looking for the Long-trained Nightjar (unsuccessful..probably due to the rain) near Sede de Pesquizas in Intervales State Park in Brazil. The park is located on a 3,300 foot high escarpment in the State of São Paulo in the Paranapiacaba mountain range/upper Ribeira Valley, southwest of the city of São Paulo and north of Curitiba. Temperatures on this cloudy day with intermittent rain were in the 60's.
