We decided to photograph this purple flowered plant because of its uniquely shaped blossoms. During the morning of October 18, 2011, we were in the lowlands near Pereque in Brazil where brightly colored flowers presented an interesting contrast to the lush green vegetation. Temperatures were in the upper 70's on this cloudy day.
