A male Golden-chevroned Tanager (Thraupis ornata), a Brazilian endemic, with its yellow shoulders, greenish tinged wings and tail, blue head and underparts, grayish-blue back, and gray belly is shown in this side view. Because of heavy rains during the afternoon of October 12, 2011, we birded from the covered porch of Pousada Pica Pau at Intervales State Park. Temperatures on this cloudy day with intermittent rain were in the 60's. Intervales State Park is located on a 3,300 foot high escarpment in the State of São Paulo in the Paranapiacaba mountain range/upper Ribeira Valley, southwest of the city of São Paulo and north of Curitiba.
