Brad photographed this Golden-winged Cacique (Cacicus chrysopterus) from the covered porch at Pousada Pica Pau at Intervales State Park on the morning of October 13, 2011. The Golden-winged is a small, black cacique with yellow shoulders and a yellow rump. The iris is white, and the bill is grayish-white. Temperatures on this cloudy day with intermittent rain were in the 60's. Intervales State Park is located on a 3,300 foot high escarpment in the State of São Paulo in the Paranapiacaba mountain range/upper Ribeira Valley, southwest of the city of São Paulo and north of Curitiba.
