During the morning of October 13, 2011, we birded Intervales State Park in Brazil. The park is located on a 3,300 foot high escarpment in the State of São Paulo in the Paranapiacaba mountain range/upper Ribeira Valley, southwest of the city of São Paulo and north of Curitiba. Temperatures on this cloudy morning with intermittent rain were in the 60's. We photographed this Gray-hooded Flycatcher (Mionectes rufiventris) while walking along the road below Pousada Pica Pau. The head is gray, and upperparts and tail are olive-green. Underparts are rufous. This species is unusual among flycatchers in having a lek-breeding system.
