We drove from REGUA (Reserva Ecológica de Guapiaçu) to Nova Friburgo and on to Sumidouro during the latter part of the morning of October 23, 2011. After enjoying splendid views of several Three-toed Jacamars, we did some additional birding in the area. Brad photographed this Guira Cuckoo, Guira guira, as it perched in a nearby tree. Wings and dorsal tail are a brownish-black color. The rest of the bird is a buffy-white color with an orangish-yellow crest and bill. Temperatures were in the 70's on this partly cloudy afternoon.
