We spent the early part of the morning of October 20, 2011, birding around our hotel, the Hotel do Ype, in Itatiaia National Park. Later that morning, we birded around the Hotel Simon and the nearby Tres Picos Trail (excellent trail that starts near the hotel). This photograph shows the clouds rolling in and the lush vegetation prevalent in this forested area. Temperatures were in the 60's on this partly cloudy day. Itatiaia National Park is situated on the shoulders of the Serra Mantiqueria, a range of mountains that straddles the states of São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.
