We took this photograph of a Masked Yellowthroat (Geothlypis aequinoctialis) while birding Intervales State Park in Brazil on October 12, 2011. The male, shown in this frontal view, has a black mask, gray head, and olive-green colored upperparts. Underparts are a bright yellow. Temperatures on this cloudy morning with intermittent rain were in the 60's. Intervales State Park is located on a 3,300 foot high escarpment in the State of São Paulo in the Paranapiacaba mountain range/upper Ribeira Valley, southwest of the city of São Paulo and north of Curitiba.
