We took this photograph of a Pyratic Flycatcher (Legatus leucophaius) while birding the Sede de Pesquizas main clearing at Intervales State Park in Brazil on October 12, 2011. Upperparts are olive-brown in color, while whitish underparts are indistinctly streaked with brown. A dark streak through the eye is bordered by a white supercilium and malar stripe. Temperatures on this cloudy morning with intermittent rain were in the 60's. Intervales State Park is located on a 3,300 foot high escarpment in the State of São Paulo in the Paranapiacaba mountain range/upper Ribeira Valley, southwest of the city of São Paulo and north of Curitiba.
