We took this photograph of a Planalto Woodcreeper (Dendrocolaptes platyrostris ) while birding in Intervales State Park in Brazil on October 14, 2011. This large Woodcreeper was working its way up a tree along our route from the Sede de Pesquizas area to Estrada de Carmo. Features of this bird include a black bill, streaked upperparts and underparts, and plain rufous-brown colored wings and tail. Temperatures on this cloudy morning with intermittent heavy rain were in the 60's. Intervales State Park is located on a 3,300 foot high escarpment in the State of São Paulo in the Paranapiacaba mountain range/upper Ribeira Valley, southwest of the city of São Paulo and north of Curitiba.
