Brad photographed this Rufous-browed Peppershrike, Cyclarhis gujanensis ochrocephala, from the back deck of the Hotel do Ype's restaurant early in the morning on October 20, 2011. The rufous coloration on this subspecies is restricted to the supraloral area. The crown is brownish, and the rest of the head is gray. There is a yellow band across the chest with the remaining underparts a grayish white color. Temperatures were in the 60's on this partly cloudy day. Itatiaia National Park is situated on the shoulders of the Serra Mantiqueria, a range of mountains that straddles the states of São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.
