We spent the remainder of the afternoon and early evening of October 20, 2011, birding pasture lands below Itatiaia National Park. Brad photographed this Rufous-fronted Thornbird (Phacellodomus rufifrons) as it perched in a nearby tree. The bird's forehead is rufous colored. A black line extends from the bill through a dark eye to the nape. Temperatures were in the 60's on this partly cloudy day.
