We spent the remainder of the afternoon and early evening of October 20, 2011, birding pasture lands below Itatiaia National Park. Brad photographed the nest of a Rufous-fronted Thornbird (Phacellodomus rufifrons). Look closely, and you'll see the bird perched on a twig in the center of its stick nest. Nests can be up to 2 meters long. Temperatures were in the 60's on this partly cloudy day.
