We photographed this Saw-billed Hermit, Ramphodon naevius, during a visit to the rainforest at Fazenda Angelim on October 16, 2011. This area is located in a valley near the Serra do Mar mountain range. Tiny serrations on the bill of this Brazilian endemic give the bird its name. The supercilium is buffy with a dark band separating it and an orange throat. The breast is heavily streaked, and the tail is roundish with buffy tips. Temperatures were in the 60's on this cloudy morning with intermittent rain.
