After lunch and a siesta on October 13, 2011, we drove to Sede de Pesquizas and from there walked along the wide-track road to the Plovercrest Lek. Along the way, we photographed this Serra (Serra do Mar) Tyrant-Manakin (Neopelma chrysolophum). This Brazilian endemic has whitish colored underparts that are lightly streaked with olive. Upperparts are grayish-brown with an olive-colored tinge. A yellow crest is present but is not being displayed. Temperatures on this cloudy day with intermittent rain were in the 60's. Intervales State Park is located on a 3,300 foot high escarpment in the State of São Paulo in the Paranapiacaba mountain range/upper Ribeira Valley, southwest of the city of São Paulo and north of Curitiba.
