We took this photograph of a Shear-tailed Gray Tyrant (Muscipipra vetula) while birding in the Sede de Pesquizas area of Intervales State Park in Brazil on October 14, 2011. This all-gray bird has a whitish throat and black wings and a long black notched tail. Temperatures on this cloudy morning with intermittent heavy rain were in the 60's. Intervales State Park is located on a 3,300 foot high escarpment in the State of São Paulo in the Paranapiacaba mountain range/upper Ribeira Valley, southwest of the city of São Paulo and north of Curitiba.
