We took this photograph of a Small-billed Elaenia (Elaenia parvirostris) while birding Intervales State Park in Brazil on October 12, 2011. This photo shows the bird's white eye-ring, roundish head with little or no crown, gray upperpars, and two white wingbars. Underparts are whitish with a grayish chest tinged with olive. The pinkish color of the base of this bird's lower mandible can be seen in this photo. Temperatures on this cloudy morning with intermittent rain were in the 60's. Intervales State Park is located on a 3,300 foot high escarpment in the State of São Paulo in the Paranapiacaba mountain range/upper Ribeira Valley, southwest of the city of São Paulo and north of Curitiba.
