The bird shown in this photo belongs to the southern race of the Streaked Flycatcher (Myiodynastes maculatus solitarius). We were doing some early morning birding in Intervales State Park in Brazil on October 12, 2011. This is a frontal view of the bird showing its white underparts streaked in black and its brownish upperparts streaked with white and black. Temperatures on this cloudy, rainy day were in the 60's. Intervales State Park is located on a 3,300 foot high escarpment in the State of São Paulo in the Paranapiacaba mountain range/upper Ribeira Valley, southwest of the city of São Paulo and north of Curitiba.
