We were doing some early morning birding in Intervales State Park in Brazil on October 12, 2011, when we photographed this Streaked Flycatcher (Myiodynastes maculatus solitarius), a member of the southern race. This bird has a white supercilium, a dark line through the eye, a white line through the cheek, and a dark malar stripe. It is heavily streaked and has a black bill with a pink base to the lower mandible. Temperatures on this cloudy, rainy day were in the 60's. Intervales State Park is located on a 3,300 foot high escarpment in the State of São Paulo in the Paranapiacaba mountain range/upper Ribeira Valley, southwest of the city of São Paulo and north of Curitiba.
