We drove from REGUA (Reserva Ecológica de Guapiaçu) to Nova Friburgo and on to Sumidouro during the latter part of the morning of October 23, 2011. We spent from 12:15-2:30 PM birding this area. The Three-toed Jacamar, Jacamaralcyon tridactyla, was our target bird. This species is endemic to a small region of the Atlantic forests of southeastern Brazil. Temperatures were in the low 70's on this partly cloudy afternoon.
