Brad photographed this Versicolored Emerald, Amazilia versicolor, during a visit to Jonas d’Abronzo's house located on the Folha Seca Road on October 16, 2011. Jonas has hummingbird and platform feeders on and near his covered back porch where there were chairs to sit on and watch the show of birds coming in to feed. The lower mandible is pinkish, and the tail is a coppery green with a dusky blue subterminal band. This bird has grayish underparts tinged with coppery green. Upperparts are similarly colored. Blues and green coloration can be seen on the head, neck, and throat of this bird. Temperatures were in the 70's on this cloudy evening with intermittent heavy rain.
