After a four hour drive during the afternoon of October 18, 2011, we arrived at a marshy area below Itatiaia National Park where we did some late afternoon birding. The Wing-banded Hornero, Furnarius figulus, was one of the birds that we saw. This Brazilian endemic has a white throat and supercilium. Upperparts are rufous-brown colored with a dark-tipped inner web of tail feathers. Outer primaries have two rufous bands. Underparts are lighter. Temperatures were in the 70's on this partly cloudy day.
