After a four hour drive during the afternoon of October 18, 2011, we arrived at a marshy area below Itatiaia National Park where we did some late afternoon birding. The Wing-banded Hornero, Furnarius figulus, was one of the birds that we saw. This Brazilian endemic has a white throat and supercilium. Upperparts are rufous-brown colored with a dark-tipped inner web of tail feathers. Outer primaries have two rufous bands. Underparts are lighter. This pair provided good front and back views. Temperatures were in the 70's on this partly cloudy day.
