Brad photographed this Yellow-rumped (Whiskered) Flycatcher (Myiobius barbatus mastacalis) while the two of us were walking along the Folha Seca Road near Ubatuba on October 17, 2011. This Brazilian endemic was flycatcatching from its perch in a nearby tree. Upperparts are brownish, and underparts are buffy grading into a yellowish color on the breast and belly. The bird's yellowish rump is visible in this photo. Temperatures were in the 70's on this overcast morning with intermittent heavy rain.
