This is a photo of a male Guira Tanager that we saw while birding along the Poço Preto (Black Well) Road in Iguaçu Falls National Park during the morning of September 30, 2011. Temperatures on this humid morning were in the 90's. The male Guira is boldly patterned with a black mask and throat that is surrounded by bright yellow. The center of the breast is a bright-orange color, the belly is yellowish, and the flanks are a grey-green. What a WOW bird!
