On our way to the Devil's Throat overlook at Iguaçu Falls during the morning of September 29, 2011, we photographed this Lineated Woodpecker. This large subspecies, erythrops, differs from the nominate in that it lacks white markings on the scapulars. Temperatures were on their way up towards the 90's on this sunny, clear morning.
