After our hike to and from the Devil's Throat area on the morning of September 29, 2011, Brad and I sat on the veranda of our hotel, Hotel das Cataratas. We enjoyed watching the antics of the Red-rumped Caciques. Later, we took a walk up to the pool area and the grounds behind the hotel where we photographed this male Saffron Finch. The Saffron Finch (Sicalis flaveola) is a tanager from South America and is common in both open and semi-open areas in lowlands. We found it to be a very photogenic species. Temperatures were in the 90's on this sunny morning.
