Brad and I arrived at Hotel das Cataratas in Iguaçu Falls during the early afternoon of September 28, 2011. Between 4:00 and 6:30 PM, we took a bird hike along the road leading to the Devil's Throat. Initially, the weather was hot with temperatures in the upper 90's. As the evening progressed, temperatures cooled into the 70's. Brad photographed this Yellow-fronted Woodpecker (Melanerpes flavifrons) perched in a tree just outside the main entrance to our hotel.
