This photograph was taken during a birding stop along El Camino de Montana. This road led us up into the Andes Mountains outside Santiago, Chile. Temperatures were in the 80's on this warm, sunny day. We enjoyed looking at this beautifully colored wasp, species unknown. The ground in this area was covered with tiny frogs, Bufo nulosus. Our guide was conducting a field study of this species.
