After a long drive from Sancti Spiritus, we arrived in Camagüey during the afternoon of April 17, 2012. This is a photo that I took while on San Juan de Dios Square. Our bus driver adeptly handled driving the difficult layout of the city's narrow city streets which have given Camagüey the nickname of "the Maze". The oldest part of the city is unique because of its narrow, twisting streets and alleys, which start or end in public squares and form a complicated labyrinth that was deliberately designed to confuse pirates and other raiders in the past.
