During the morning of April 14, 2012, we went looking for the Zapata Wren in the La Turba area. I got excellent views of the wren as it was hunkered down and burried in the foliage. On our way out of the area, we photographed this Cuban Vireo (Vireo gundlachii) with its dark olive-gray upperparts and pale yellow underparts. This endemic is a striking bird with its creamy white lores and large postocular crescent. Temperatures were in the 70's on this humid, sunny morning.
