We saw this Fernandina's Flicker (Colaptes fernandinae), a Cuban endemic, the morning of April 18, 2012, during a visit to "Sierra del Chorrillo" Managed Resources Protected Area located about 54 Km from Camagüey in the Najasa municipality. We birded Finca La Belén, a typical Camagüey farm, sited on this protected area. This flicker is yellowish-brown in color with black barring. The cinnamon-colored head has thin black streaks on the crown. Temperatures were in the mid-80's on this humid, sunny morning.
