After breakfast on the morning of April 13, 2012, we had a Conservation Exchange in Aula Ecologica of the Quinta de los Molinos (an estate located in the heart of Havana) with the Foundation for Patrimony, Community and Environment. I photographed this Jackfruit (Artocarpus heterophyllus Lam.) tree in the garden area. The cauliflorous (develops directly from the trunk) fruit, the largest among cultivated plants (three feet in length and weighing up to 75 pounds), can be eaten fresh or preserved.
