Before leaving Trinidad and driving to Sancti Spiritus on the afternoon of April 16, 2012, we stopped at La Chanchanchara in Trinidad on the Calle Ruben Matinez Villena. We sat in old wooden armchairs, listened to music, and enjoyed a local drink, the Canchanchara. This drink consists of aguardiente (Havana Club brand rum), lime, honey, water, and ice served in a small, glazed earthenware bowl. Brad photographed this sign that discusses the history of this 18th century tavern, and how in 1994 it was named La Canchanchara after Cuba's symbolic drink.
