The second day of our Ecuadorean birding tour took us to the Tandayapa Valley. This area of undamaged cloud forest and beautiful mountain scenery was approximately a two hour drive from our hotel, the Hotel Quito. It was a partly cloudy day with temperatures in the low to mid-80's. This photograph of a Purple-bibbed Whitetip was taken in the yard of Tony and Barbara Nunnery whose residence lies in the Tandayapa Valley. We enjoyed watching the hummers and trying to identify them as they fed.
