We spent the afternoon watching hummingbirds at Tony and Barbara Nunnery's home overlooking the Tandayapa Valley. This middle elevation location holds some of the highest diversity of hummingbirds in the area. The feeders located here attract both resident hummers and numerous other types normally found at higher and lower elevations. After watching the hummers in action for over an hour, we hiked the trails around the property and were heading back uphill to Nunnery's house when we saw the Smoke-colored Pewee. Looking downhill we could see it perched in a tree near powerlines that cut through the property (NOTE: the Nunnery residence does not have electricity).
