Victor is the star in this photograph. He is showing us the leaves of the Melastome Tree with its large, ribbed leaves. We'll have to return to Ecuador again to witness this tree in its blooming glory. The birds enjoy it for its cover and its seeds. This photograph was taken during the morning of our birding trip to the Tandayapa Valley. We drove along the Nono-Mindo road and stopped at Bellavista Colibries to have a cold drink and bird. It was a partly cloudy morning with temperatures in the low to mid-80's.
