After leaving the Galapagos, we flew into Guayaquil, Ecuador. The city is situated in the humid Pacific lowlands and provided us views of native forest that were different than the cloud forest we'd seen in the Andes. During the late afternoon we birded Cerro Blanco, a privately owned reserve. A cement-making company owns and preserves this last large chunk of native forest in the Guayaquil area. It was a cloudy day with temperatures in the low 90's.
