Flightless Cormorant  

Group 1: The photographs displayed here were taken during a Panga cruise around Punta Vicente Roca, Isabela Island.

Group 2: Later this same day (12/3/2008),we were hiking the trail at Punta Espinosa on Fernandina Island when we took these photographs of Flightless Cormorants nesting, pair bonding and engaging in mating rituals. This species nests on sheltered rocky shores and builds a bulky nest predominantly of seaweed (Group 2: rightmost photo in row 1). You can see marine iguanas in the photos in row two. They were everywhere!
