This photograph of a Galápagos Shearwater was taken during a pre-breakfast sea-watch from our ship, the National Geographic Islander, while we were in the waters between Isabella and Roca Redonda. This species was formerly considered to be an endemic subspecies of Audubon's Shearwater, Puffinus iherminieri, but recent studies show that it should be treated as a full species. Temperatures were in the low 70's on this partly cloudy morning.
